A pharmaceutical company called Zerion Pharma has shared exciting news. One of its partners has officially asked European health regulators to approve a new medicine made using Zerion’s special Dispersome technology. This is the first time any health authority in the world will review a medicine that uses this technology, which makes certain hard-to-absorb drugs more effective. The active ingredient in this technology is a natural protein called beta-lactoglobulin (BLG), which helps improve how well the body absorbs the medication. The application was made possible thanks to funding Zerion received in 2026 from Ligand Pharmaceuticals, which helped advance this technology and prepare for regulatory review. Zerion’s CEO, Ole Wiborg, expressed his excitement, calling this a major achievement for the company. He said it brings them closer to getting the first approval for a medicine using Dispersome technology and looks forward to regulators evaluating BLG as a new ingredient in drugs. If approved, Zerion will earn royalties from sales of the medicine. Dispersome technology offers a new way to deliver hard-to-absorb drugs, either in pill form or as inhalers. It works by using BLG to create stable drug formulas that can hold more medicine, potentially reducing the amount of drug needed, the size of tablets, and waste during manufacturing. Zerion stated that this technology has already shown strong results in multiple lab and clinical studies, proving its effectiveness.
