Boehringer Ingelheim, a pharmaceutical company, has shared exciting new results from a late-stage study (called the SYNCHRONIZE-2 trial) of a medication called survodutide. This drug is designed to help people with obesity and type 2 diabetes lose weight while also improving their overall health. In the study, adults who took survodutide lost up to 13.1% of their body weight over 76 weeks when compared to those who took a placebo (a harmless pill with no active ingredients). More than 79% of participants lost at least 5% of their body weight, which is often considered a meaningful amount for health improvements.
