New Hope for Lynch Syndrome Carriers: Promising Cancer Prevention Therapy Presented at Major Medical Conference

A new cancer prevention therapy called NOUS-209 will be discussed at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress in 2026. The therapy is being developed by Nouscom, a biotech company, and will be presented by Dr. Eduardo Vilar-Sanchez from The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The focus will be on how patients with Lynch syndrome—a genetic condition that increases the risk of cancer by up to 80%—can benefit from this treatment. The presentation will share new data on safety, how well the body responds to the therapy, and long-term follow-up results after more than a year of treatment. These findings aim to show that NOUS-209 could be an effective way to prevent cancer in people with Lynch syndrome.

Marina Udier, the CEO of Nouscom, shared her excitement about the progress: ‘This is another important milestone for NOUS-209 in Lynch syndrome. It’s the fourth time we’ve presented strong data at major medical conferences, including the AACR 2025 and SITC 2023 and 2025 meetings. Along with recent recognition from the FDA, which designated this therapy for a faster approval process, we are confident that NOUS-209 could become the first cancer prevention therapy for people with Lynch syndrome, who face such a high lifetime risk of developing cancer.’

The therapy works by stimulating the immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells before they become dangerous. Earlier studies published in the journal *Nature Medicine* showed that NOUS-209 is safe and triggers a strong, long-lasting immune response in the body. When patients received an annual booster dose of the therapy, their immune response became even stronger. Importantly, no new advanced precancerous growths were found a year after treatment, suggesting that NOUS-209 may prevent cancer from developing in Lynch syndrome carriers.

The clinical trial, identified as NCT05078866, involved collaboration between the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Prevention Clinical Trials Network and the iCAN-PREVENT consortium at MD Anderson. The primary funding came from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), with additional support for data management, auditing, and coordination.
