Lundbeck, a company focused on brain health, has hired Markus Kede as its new Senior Vice President and Chief AI Officer. He will start his new role on July 1. Markus has over 15 years of leadership experience and will lead Lundbeck’s global AI strategy. This includes setting up strong AI rules, building AI skills, and using AI in different parts of the company. Lundbeck wants to become a ‘bionic company’ and sees AI as a key tool to make better decisions, work more efficiently, and find new ways of working. The company has already partnered with other AI-focused organizations. Charl van Zyl, Lundbeck’s President and CEO, said that AI is not just about technology, but also about changing how the company thinks, decides, and acts. Markus is currently the Senior Vice President of Finance and Business Planning for Lundbeck US. He has also been leading the company’s US Digital and AI Strategy Committee. In this role, he has helped define and advance AI initiatives. In 2024, Eli Lilly, another big pharmaceutical company, also appointed its first Chief AI Officer to capitalize on technological advancements.
