This medication works by targeting the harmful antibodies in your blood that attack and destroy your red blood cells, while keeping the rest of your immune system functioning normally. This approach helps to raise your red blood cell levels and reduce symptoms without weakening your immune system as much as older treatments do.

The approval comes after a large study showed that patients taking IMAAVY experienced a significant improvement in their red blood cell counts. On average, patients saw their hemoglobin levels—a measure of red blood cells—increase by 1 gram per deciliter just one week after starting treatment. By 24 weeks, patients also reported feeling less tired, as measured by a standard fatigue assessment tool.

Warm autoimmune haemolytic anaemia is a rare disease, affecting about 1 in every 8,000 people. In this condition, the body’s immune system mistakenly produces antibodies that destroy its own red blood cells, leading to severe anemia. This can cause extreme fatigue, weakness, and increase the risk of serious health problems if left untreated.

For many years, people with wAIHA have had limited treatment options. The most common therapies, such as corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, work by weakening the entire immune system. While they can help, they also increase the risk of infections and other side effects because they don’t specifically target the harmful antibodies causing the problem.

IMAAVY is different. It is designed to specifically reduce the levels of harmful IgG antibodies, including the ones that attack red blood cells, while preserving your body’s natural immune defenses. By lowering these specific antibodies, IMAAVY aims to control the disease over the long term and improve your quality of life with fewer side effects.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just approved a new medication called IMAAVY for a condition called warm […]

[543

post-3430","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pharmaceutical-news
["GET
