A company called Kupando has started the first human trial of a new experimental cancer<\/a> drug called KUP101. This marks an important step for Kupando, as it moves from laboratory research to testing the drug in people with advanced cancers, starting with skin tumors. <\/p>\n

The trial is being conducted at top cancer centers in Germany. After the first patient received the drug, an independent safety committee reviewed the initial results and approved the continuation of the study. <\/p>\n

Dr. Johanna Holldack, the founder and CEO of Kupando, said: “Giving the first patient this new drug is a major turning point for our company. KUP101 works by stimulating the body’s natural defense system and training immune cells to fight cancer in a completely new way. This could be a game-changer for patients with hard-to-treat cancers.”<\/p>\n

She also praised the hard work of their team and the support from their investors and clinical partners in Germany. <\/p>\n

KUP101 is a unique drug designed to activate the body\u2019s immune system, rather than targeting specific cancer mutations. This means it may work across different types of tumors and could provide longer-lasting benefits. Early lab studies suggest that combining KUP101 with other cancer drugs, like checkpoint inhibitors, might improve responses in patients who don\u2019t respond well to current immunotherapies or develop resistance to them. <\/p>\n
